Team 50

There was no better way to celebrate Leslie's 50th Birthday-
to celebrate her strength, courage, and hope-than at the Relay for Life.

There was so much excitement in the 3 weeks of preparation for this party.
And with the help of many of her closest family and friends it was a HUGE success.
There were times that we were certain she knew that something was going on...

But as she rounded the corner and saw over 100 black t-shirts waiting to wish her a happy birthday it was clear that it was indeed a surprise.

Grandpa met Leslie with open arms and together they finished the Survivor lap.

at 11:45 PM Team 50 got on our party hats and walked the Birthday Lap.

I had never participated in Relay for Life and it exceeded all expectations.
It was one of the best experiences I have ever had.
It was happy, peaceful, exciting, and overwhelming. You could feel the strength from all the people there showing love and support for their loved ones in the battle. It was devastating to see how many lives in one small community are effected by this ugly thing. It was great to see everyone come together.

Leslie deserved to have a great day and I think that is what she got.
She needed to see just how many people are fighting with her, who love her and believe in her.
No one is more loved or more deserving.

A Long Month

January has proven to be a month of ups and downs.

Surgery was scheduled January 9th.

The surgery went great, the doctor said everything looked great.

Pathology reports came back clean. No cancer!!

Recovery coming along slowly.

Day 13 post-op mom still didn't feel great.

Further tests brought concern and a trip back to surgery on the 22nd.

Mom is now recovering from surgery number 2.

Hopefully she will be coming home in about 5 days.

She is doing great thanks to the support of her family, friends, and co-workers.

Everyone has been great.

We are so thankful for all the love everyone has shown in this long month.

She did it!

Done.

The hardest part is over.

The CT was normal.

3 to go!

The CT scan is happening now.

Of course 2 hours later than the scheduled time.

She had to fast after midnight.

Then she was supposed to drink 6 cups of juice/contrast.

She only made it though 5.

It made her SO SICK!

They finally called her back.

Then it's off the radiation at 11:30.

Today they start in on the radiation that is localized to the tumor site.

Hopefully it won't be harder on her.

Her EGD from yesterday didn't show anything abnormal.

We are hoping the same for the CT scan.
